Northville, MI Engagement Photographer | Ben + Lauren

I've known Lauren since elementary school and I was so happy for her when I found out she was engaged. I was even more excited when she contacted me and said she's always wanted me to photograph her wedding - what an awesome compliment! Lauren and Ben are getting married next July at the beautiful Amway Grand in Grand Rapids, and I cannot wait! After spending just an hour with the two of them it's very clear that they are so in love and absolutely perfect for each other! We had a great time walking around Northville's historical Mill Race Village, and I loved the "Love" banner Lauren brought (Ben, you were a good sport with it!) Northville, MI Senior Photographer | Susie - Part 1

Ahh I'm so excited about these pictures! This is my youngest sister who graduates next year (which by the way makes me feel incredibly old!) We still have another session scheduled up north so I was going to wait to share these until I have all the pictures, but I just couldn't wait! She is so gorgeous and makes all the poses look so natural; I couldn't ask for a better model!

Northville, MI Baby Photographer | One Year Old!

You don't realize how quickly a year flies by until you have a baby and you see how much they change in just a year. Or in my case when you take their newborn photos and then suddenly you're taking their one-year photos! Nolan is one of my favorite kids to photograph. He's always got a giant smile and the brightest eyes. It's amazing just a year ago I was photographing him at a few weeks old and now he's toddling around and stuffing cake in his face :) It's so much fun watching kids grow up. Happy first birthday Nolan!

Here he is as a newborn, at 6 months, and now 1 year!

Livonia, MI Family Photographer | The Shaw Family

I was really excited when one of my good friends contacted me about taking extended family photos as a gift for her parents. They have a big family with 6 grandchildren and I knew they'd be a ton of fun to photograph. Everyone looked great in their coordinating blues and I was amazed at how cooperative all the kids were! And who knew Grandpa was such a great photo assistant, he was coming up with some awesome poses :) It was my first time shooting at Greenmead in Livonia and I loved it, it's my new favorite location. It's similar to Mill Race Village in Northville without the crazy permit fees. Looking at these pictures makes me want a giant family too!

Northville, MI Newborn Photographer | My Baby Girl's Blog Debut

On May 9th we welcomed this sweet little girl into our family, Felicity Lynn. When I found out I was having a girl I instantly started scouring Etsy for cute photo props for her newborn session. I created a Pinterest board full of pose ideas and I couldn't wait to start shooting. In my mind it would be so easy to take hundreds of photos of her, I mean all I had to do was take her down to my basement studio and snap away. Ha, of course it didn't go as planned! At 8 days old I was freaking out because I still hadn't taken any "professional" pictures of her and I always tell my clients to schedule their newborn sessions within the first 10 days! Between the recovery of a c-section, chasing around our 3 year old son, enjoying visitors, etc there was no time for photo sessions! Even when we finally found time it still wasn't as easy as I thought it'd be. If she was happy, my son wasn't, if my son was cooperating she'd be screaming, or we'd take her diaper off and she'd choose that second to go all over our living room rug - you get the picture! And if you're a parent who's been through a newborn session I know this is nothing new for you, you're probably thinking "yes, that describes my session exactly!" But somehow I thought as a photographer it'd be easier for me! We finally got a few, not quite everything I had envisioned, but I still love how they turned out. Best of all I'll always have these pictures to remember how tiny she once was.
